Symfonia - Migration and modernization of the business process management software to Amazon Web Services

1

CHALLENGES:

Symfonia is a Polish business software vendor, offering comprehensive ERP systems and process automation tools that support the growth of enterprises. The Client was looking for a solution that would enable the software to be made available in the cloud in a SaaS model in a way that is convenient for the end customer. An important aspect of the project was also to reduce costs by avoiding the need to maintain and develop the application in parallel in both web and desktop architectures. As part of the project, the Client entrusted us with validating the developed business plan and delivering the migration in two stages: Assess and Mobilize, using the AWS Migration Acceleration Program (MAP), as well as implementing the solution in the SaaS model.

IMPLEMENTED SOLUTIONS:

In the first stage, a business analysis was conducted during the Assess phase, validating the business case and Symfonia’s readiness for migration. A proof of concept was carried out, testing AWS services such as Amazon RDS for SQL Server, Amazon AppStream, and Amazon S3. During the Mobilize phase, a pilot environment was launched, using Amazon AppStream 2.0 for application streaming.

In the second stage, Symfonia’s software was implemented in the SaaS model, providing end customers with access to applications such as Symfonia Finance and Accounting, Trade, Document Repository, and Fixed Assets. By integrating the customer portal with Amazon AppStream and managing sessions through AWS Step Functions and AWS Lambda, the software is available on demand, enabling flexible usage without a lengthy implementation process.

ACHIEVED EFFECTS:

By completing the AWS Migration Acceleration Program, we validated the business case assumptions, tested the infrastructure, and carried out a pilot implementation, which minimized migration risk and prepared the environment for a full rollout.

As a result of migrating Symfonia’s software to a SaaS model, users gained remote access to the systems, and infrastructure maintenance costs were reduced by 68%, while ensuring flexibility and high availability of the services. You can learn more about the outcomes by downloading the case study.
