DMSI Software - Migration and modernization of the video surveillance and monitoring system for security service providers.

1

CHALLENGES:

DMSI Software is a technology company specializing in solutions for the security and monitoring industry. Its flagship product—the Safestar platform—is an advanced remote video surveillance system that integrates CCTV cameras, alarm sensors, and security staff management tools into one cohesive environment.

The solution is used by both local security agencies and international corporations. Safestar provides modules for alarm management, video surveillance, access control, and security analytics, available in cloud-based and hybrid deployment models. The platform enables full integration with IoT devices, delivering end-to-end support for security operations across commercial and industrial facilities.

The client needed a stable, highly available infrastructure that would address performance issues in the colocation environment, enable elastic scaling and cost optimization, and at the same time meet security requirements for monitoring workloads.

IMPLEMENTED SOLUTIONS:

In the first stage, as part of the AWS Migration Acceleration Program (MAP), we conducted a Migration Readiness Assessment and a Proof of Concept, testing key Safestar components in AWS (including data-layer performance and resilience). Next, during the Mobilize phase, we launched a pilot environment: we built a secure Landing Zone with AWS Control Tower, containerized microservices on Amazon ECS, migrated the database to Amazon RDS, and implemented Terraform and CI/CD automation.

In the second stage, we applied a two-step migration approach: first lift-and-shift to quickly stabilize availability, followed by replatforming to fully managed services. We maintained a hybrid architecture (video data on-premises, business logic and management in AWS) and implemented components to improve scalability and security, including ALB/NLB, ElastiCache (Redis), Secrets Manager, and EFS.

ACHIEVED EFFECTS:

As part of the project, we carried out a migration readiness analysis, performance testing, and a pilot deployment of the Safestar platform in the AWS environment. In addition, we implemented automated CI/CD processes, prepared a cutover plan with contingency procedures, and optimized the architecture for performance, security, and scalability—while simultaneously developing the client team’s cloud management capabilities.

As a result of the migration to AWS, Safestar now runs in a highly available and scalable cloud environment, ensuring 24/7 service continuity and stable performance regardless of the number of users. We increased security and automation in infrastructure management and reduced the number of incident-related support tickets. You can find more details in the full case study:
